Introduction

The BCAM exists to advance safe and ethical aesthetic medicine to the benefit of medical practitioners and members of the public. We represent aesthetic medical practitioners in a unified manner, maintain standards and practice ethics in aesthetic medicine.

The BCAM was originally founded in 2001 as the British Association of Cosmetic Doctors to encourage regulation within the industry and help to make aesthetic medicine safer and more ethical for the general public.

 All members are General Medical Council (GMC) Registered with a licence to practice
 All members must meet the BCAM criteria of application to use the initials MBCAM issued annually
 Members attend regular educational and scientific meetings
 Members can be revalidated through BCAM every 5 years.
 Full membership entitles the inclusion of their clinics on the BCAM website.
 Website Forum for member’s to discuss issues and comments.
 Network with over 350 doctors.
 A dedicated voluntary Board of Directors enhancing the BCAM with their experience and knowledge, helping to push forward innovative ideas and measures to protect its members and the public.

The last three years have seen huge changes in terms of regulation, training and qualifications in the world of aesthetics and the BCAM Board have agreed to appoint a CEO to lead on the development of the Association. There is a lot of development work to be undertaken so the Board have agreed to make an Interim Appointment which if successful will lead to the appointment of a permanent CEO.

BCAM has recently become a registered UK charity and is one of the pivotal Associations in the aesthetics sector. This is an exciting time for BCAM as it looks to develop its role in a rapidly growing sector and build on its excellent core team and activities.

 

BCAM Interim CEO - Objectives

The key objectives for the role are as follows:

1. To act as figure head for the BCAM alongside the Chair.
2. To grow and develop the BCAM membership base and its Academy.
3. To maintain and grow the influence of BCAM as a voice in the non-surgical sector.
4. To enhance the profile and image of BCAM using all appropriate platforms.

 

BCAM Interim CEO - Responsibilities

General

 Development, completion and implementation of a Business Strategy and Strategic Plan 2019 - 21.
 Development and management of the BCAM Budget.
 The development of BCAM partnership working with key stakeholders.
 The development of income generating activities linked to BCAM development opportunities.
 To ensure that all BCAM Quality Management and Governance procedures are in place and to keep up to date all BCAM Policy, Process and Company House documents.
 To manage the BCAM HR function in association with third party contracted experts.
 Working with the Chair to ensure appropriate BCAM Board membership and governance as and when necessary.
 To work with the Chair and existing BCAM staff on the delivery of the 2019 Annual Conference.
 To develop BCAM Regional Networks and meetings.
 To represent BCAM along with the Chair and other Board members in its discussions with Government, Industry, education and other key stakeholders.
 To ensure that all reporting requirements of being a registered charity are met.

Projects and Services

 To work with designated BCAM Board Director on the development of the BCAM Academy.
 To review the current range of services provided to BCAM members and present the findings and any new proposals to the BCAM Board.
 To manage the BCAM Website to include the following:
 Updating and Development
 Maintenance
 Day to day operation and use by Members and the public.
 The Members closed Facebook page.
 Practitioner Finder

Oversee the BCAM’s basic marketing and communication function to include:

 Compilation, coordination and issuing of the BCAM quarterly Newsletter.

 To develop and manage the BCAM social media activity including its Facebook pages, Twitter and LinkedIn.
 Maintenance and updating of the BCAM Contact and Media database.
 The management and collation of the results of the BCAM Annual Survey.
 To coordinate the issuing of BCAM Press Releases and other communications to the media.

 

Management and Administration

 Visit head office on fortnightly basis for management meetings
 Oversee the production of monthly management accounts and a bimonthly progress paper to the Board.
 Attendance at all meetings as required by the post
 Respond to all enquiries related to the objectives of the role
 To refer any technical enquiries received by the BCAM to the Chair and the Board
 To report directly to the BCAM Chair and Board
 To directly manage the BCAM staff

 

Person Specification for BCAM Interim CEO

Essential

 Strategic leader
 Project development and management skills
 Financially aware
 Experience of marketing, communication and use of social media.
 Ability to communicate with a wide range of people from different backgrounds
 Flexible working as part of a small team
 Capacity to build partnerships

 

Desirable

 Background in developing and managing Associations
 Knowledge and background in the cosmetic/non-surgical sector

 

Supervisory Role

The BCAM Interim CEO will oversee the activities of three members of staff:

 Office Manager

 BCAM Administrator
 Senior academy administrator

 

Reporting Arrangements

The BCAM Interim CEO reports directly to the BCAM Chair, Vice Chair and Board members.

Terms and Conditions

The Interim BCAM CEO will be employed on a contract basis equivalent to part – time 2 days a week (16 hours for an initial period of 6 months where the post will be reviewed – an extension to 12 months is possible or move to a permanent post).

The terms and conditions of the role will be reviewed after the 6 month contract period with a view to making the post permanent status or extending the interim contract.
Separate detailed terms and conditions and a contract will be agreed with the successful candidate.
